Your Job Depends On It

Introduction and Consent

You are invited to participate in a research study conducted by Carrie Arralde. The purpose of this research is to explore how future employers perceive an applicant who is communicatively impaired, and to determine whether these attitudes are affected by variables such as age, gender, and exposure to communication disorders. I hope you will take a few minutes to help with this research project. Please note that your participation is voluntary, and your answers will be kept confidential. No URL data will be retained. You indicate your consent to participate by continuing to complete this 8-10-minute survey.

Initially, you will fill out a brief pre-survey questionnaire (such as age, gender, experience with communication disorders, etc.). Five audio clips portraying different speaking conditions will be presented throughout the survey. After each clip, you will fill out a rating form for each speaker on nine personality traits.

This project has been reviewed by the IRB of Eastern New Mexico University and approved as protocol # 1819086.  Records pertaining to proposal review and approval are available upon request.
