2020 Service Plan Survey

Please take a few minutes to help Sound Transit by providing your feedback on the proposed changes for the 2020 Service Plan. Your input is valuable and our service planner will review your input and report it to Sound Transit’s Board of Directors before making final decisions. A public hearing will take place on October 3, 2019, at 12:30 pm in the Ruth Fisher Boardroom. Public comment will close on October 7 at 5:00 pm. The Sound Transit Board will vote on the plan in November 2019.  If approved, some changes would take effect in March 2020 and others in September 2020.

As part of the 2020 Service Plan, Sound Transit proposes several changes to build ridership and improve productivity. These goals align with the 2018 Service Standards. As part of the proposal process, we would like to know how you feel about the changes to these routes.

1. Part A) Metro is revising Route 255 to service the University of Washington Station in March 2020, serving the same stops as current Route 540. Proposed Route 544 would use current resources spent on Routes 540 and 541 to connect the Eastside to South Lake Union. Route 544 would run during peak hours in both directions, serving Overlake Village, Overlake Transit Center, South Kirkland, SR 520 and South Lake Union. Though most passengers would still have a one-seat ride, passengers traveling between Overlake Village and UW would transfer to either Route 542 at Overlake Transit Center’s freeway station or to Route 255 at Evergreen Point.

How do you feel about the proposed pathway for new Route 544? Please rate the change on a scale of 1 to 5; 1 being “It will make my commute worse” and 5 being “It will make my commute better” or if you don’t know, please indicate “Not Applicable/Don’t Know”.
It will make my commute worse.
Neither better nor worse.

Part B) How do you feel about the deletion of ST Express route 540/541 to create New Route 544?

Please rate the change on a scale of 1 to 5; 1 being “It will make my commute worse” and 5 being “It will make my commute better” or if you don’t know or it is not applicable to you, please indicate “Not Applicable/Don’t Know”.

2. Sound Transit proposes extending current weekend Route 577 trips to Auburn, which would convert all weekend trips to Route 578, with half of the trips ending in Auburn and half continuing to Sumner and Puyallup. Service levels between downtown Seattle and Federal Way would not change.

How do you feel about the proposed change to Route 577 weekend service? Please rate the change on a scale of 1 to 5; 1 being “It will make my commute worse” and 5 being “It will make my commute better” or if you don’t know, please indicate “Not Applicable/Don’t Know”.

3. Sound Transit is proposing to discontinue low-ridership stops on ST Express route 566 at Kennydale and Newport Hills. The additional service pattern has proven complex and confusing to customers and total daily ridership for the two stops is only 16 boardings. Route 560 would continue to serve those stops during all service hours.

How do you feel about the proposed changes to route 566? Please rate the change on a scale of 1 to 5; 1 being “It will make my commute worse” and 5 being “It will make my commute better” or if you don’t know, please indicate “Not Applicable/Don’t Know”.
