2019 Refuge Outdoor Festival Scholarship Application

Refuge Outdoor Festival is a 3-day camping experienced geared toward people of color. Introduced in 2018, Refuge is "centered on building community through outdoor recreation, conversations (community talks, workshops), music, and art that appeal to a diverse and inclusive audience." The Mountaineers signed on as a sponsor of Refuge because we know affinity spaces are important places to build connections with each other and the outdoors, and we'd like to invite you participate in this year's festival on behalf of The Mountaineers.

The Refuge Outdoor Festival will take place from September 27-29, 2019, at Told-MacDonald Park & Campground in Carnation, WA. We have two passes for our members, and the selected attendees will receive an adult festival pass and a field camping pass ($130 value), but must arrange for their own travel to and from Carnation.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
  1. Be a current member of The Mountaineers;
  2. Commit to attending all three days of the conference (Sep 27-19, 2019);
  3. Commit to sharing the learning from this conference either The Mountaineers Equity & Inclusion Committee, or ideally, with the broader organization through committee work or other means.
A subset of the E&I Committee will select the most highly-qualified applicants from each branch.

Please submit your application no later than Sunday, September 1 to receive full consideration! Selections will be made by September 4.

Thank you for your interest! If you have any questions, please contact kristinac@mountaineers.org.
