Red Cross Blood Drive

American Red Cross Blood Drive
at
the District Clay Center
Thank you for your interest in the giving the gift of life.  This form indicates your interest in participating - this is not a blood drive registration.  Once District Clay achieves the minimum number (38) of interested participants, the American Red Cross will open up an online blood drive form for actual registration.

District Clay is sponsoring this Drive in conjunction with an upcoming show in the District Clay Gallery called by Subversive Nature by ceramic artist Russell Biles.

For the show, Russell is creating an installation called GIVE, which promotes community action through donations of blood to the American Red Cross.  The installation is made up of hundreds of small porcelain figurines that are divided by blood type (A, AB, B or O).

Russell would like each person who participates in the Blood Drive to get a free figurine with their blood type.

Why Give Blood?

You are truly giving the gift of life.  Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Go here for a few of their stories.

In one hour’s time, a person can donate one unit of blood that can be separated into four individual components that could help save multiple lives.

From one unit of blood, red blood cells can be extracted for use in trauma or surgical patients. Plasma, the liquid part of blood, is administered to patients with clotting problems. The third component of blood, platelets, clot the blood when cuts or other open wounds occur, and are often used in cancer and transplant patients. Cryoprecipitated anti-hemophilic factor (AHF) is also to aid clotting of blood.
About Giving Blood:

Once the Blood Drive is confirmed (we need 38 people to indicate interest), an online blood drive will be scheduled with the American Red Cross and we will send you a link in order to confirm your registration.

When you confirm, you will select a timeslot for giving blood between 1 and 6 pm on the day of the drive.  District Clay will convert its big wheel room into a blood drive area.

When you arrive, you will check in, answer some questions and then one pint of blood will be drawn.  The actual draw takes 10 minutes or less.  You will then be invited to have some drinks and cookies in a rest area.  Your gift of life will take less than an hour.
1. Please let us know if you can donate blood on Wednesday, Nov. 27th in the afternoon (1-6 pm).
2. Please give us your contact information: *This question is required.
