2020 Big Apple Awards Nomination Form

Overview

NOMINATION DEADLINE: Monday, December 9, 2019

Thank you for your interest in nominating an outstanding teacher for the eighth annual Big Apple Awards: Recognizing Teacher Excellence in New York City.

If you want to nominate a DOE college and career counselor, visit the counselor nomination form.

Why nominate a teacher?

  • Show your appreciation for a dedicated educator who has made an impact on you and/or your community.
  • Contribute to a citywide conversation about teaching excellence and showcase the work happening in your school community.
  • Make your teacher's day. Every time a teacher is nominated, they receive an email letting them know.
  • The teacher you nominate could be recognized as one of more than 200 Finalists.
  • The teacher you nominate could even become a Big Apple Award recipient and spend the 2020-21 school year participating in the Big Apple Fellowship and representing teachers citywide as members of the Chancellor’s Teacher Advisory Group.
  • All nominees will be considered for additional NYC DOE recognition opportunities throughout the year.

Who can I nominate?

Nominees should be current, full-time teachers at New York City district schools, charter schools, or teaching full-day Infants, Toddlers, 3s or 4s at a NYC Early Education Center (NYCEEC)

Please note that you may nominate more than one teacher for this award.

Who can submit a nomination?

Anyone can submit a nomination for a current teacher — students, families, teachers, administrators, community members.

I'm ready to nominate! What information will I need to submit?

  • Your name and a valid email address;
  • Basic information about your nominee (including their name and school address);
  • A statement on why your nominee should be considered for the Awards.
