FDEP Bioassessment Course Registration

Where:      Bear Creek Educational Center Gadsden County (lat/longs 30.476562, -84.625686)
(Please use coordinates, map, or directions below. If you use the location name, mapping programs will take you to the forest office, not the educational center)     
Directions:
  • From Interstate 10: Exit onto Highway 267. Go south on Highway 267 for 4.8 miles. The entrance will be on your left.
  • From Highway 20: Turn north onto Highway 267. Follow Highway 267 for 7.5 miles. The entrance will be on your right.
What to bring:            Chest Waders, Rain gear, Clipboard with appropriate forms and SOPs (see table below), dipnet and brush (if you have them).

8:45 AM   Stream Condition Index (SCI) presentation
9:45 AM   Break
10:00 AM Habitat Assessment (HA) presentation
11:30 AM Lunch (on your own)
12:30 PM Rapid Periphyton (RPS) and Linear Vegetation Survey (LVS) (Ed. Center)
1:30 PM Field Preparation/Break
2:00 PM Field Practice at Bear Creek
4:00 PM HA Examples (Bear Creek Educational Center)

The course will end at approximately 4:30 PM.
There are two hotels located at the I-10/Hwy 267 interchange.
