Vehicle Coverage Change

Vehicle coverage is automatically arranged when a unit purchases a vehicle through Purchasing Services. The University places full coverage on vehicles 20 years or newer and liability coverage on vehicle over 21 years old. The index used to purchase the vehicle will be responsible for the cost of full coverage.

Vehicle refers to any item with title for ownership – on & off road – autos, trucks, trailers, ATVs, SOHVs and titled motorized equipment.

Units may request the following changes to the coverage that was arranged -

Vehicle age is 20 years or newer:

Change the index number for a vehicle;
Transfer a vehicle to another unit;
Change a Class 2 vehicle value; and
Add special equipment.

Vehicle age is over 21 years:

Transfer a vehicle to another unit.

To request one of the above changes, please follow the below steps.

Contact risk@uidaho.edu to request full coverage for a vehicle 21 years or older that the value of the vehicle and the special equipment exceed $15,000 if coverage is desired.
