Teen Talk Training Application - Winter 2020

Teen Talk Training - Winter 2020

Training Overview

Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles (JBBBSLA) and Teen Line developed a mobile phone app called Teen Talk. Teen Talk is an anonymous iPhone app where teens can get support from trained teens, share inspiration, and learn what other teens are dealing with. High school students can join the Teen Talk Training program to learn how to provide social and emotional support to their peers.

The Teen Talk Training is a 50 hour training where participants will learn the essential tools to successfully support their peers. Winter Training will take place at Temple Judea in Tarzana and will begin on Sunday, January 26th. Training will be held weekly on Sundays between 9:00-1:00pm. Please confirm that the following dates work with your schedule - 1/26, 2/2, 2/9, 2/16, 2/23, 3/1, 3/8, 3/22, 3/29, and 4/5.

Once trained, teens will sign up for 2.5 hour weekly evening shifts where they can provide support at home on their own devices. Participants will receive community service hours for both the training and weekly shifts.

We are currently accepting applications from teens (Grades 9-11 preferred) who would like to be trained to provide peer support to other teens on the app. All applications must be submitted by 1:00pm on Thursday, January 9th.  If invited, Interviews will be held on Sunday, January 12th from 2:00-4:00 pm at Temple Judea in Tarzana.

Please complete the application below. Responses will be confidential. Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to reviewing your application.
