Help Make it Easier to Build ADUs

Please share your insights on how to make it easier and less costly to construct Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) in Tacoma!

An ADU is a second, smaller dwelling unit located on the same lot as (and either attached or detached to) a single-family dwelling. The City of Tacoma is promoting ADUs as a way to increase housing affordability and choice. For more information, visit www.tacomapermits.org/accessory-dwelling-units.

We are seeking input from people interested in, or in the process of, building an ADU, as well as from building professionals such as architects and developers.

This 3 to 5 minute survey will help us to improve Tacoma’s ADU code, streamline the permit process, reduce costs, and improve clarity around building ADU’s.
