Galardi Group, Inc. Scholarship

 

About:

The California Restaurant Association Foundation (CRAF) is proud to present the 2020 Galardi Group, Inc. scholarship application. Galardi Group, Inc. operates and franchises more than 350 Wienerschnitzel restaurants as well as Tastee Freez and Hamburger Stand (referred to as “Wienerschnitzel” collectively throughout the application).

 

Eligibility:

The Galardi Group, Inc. scholarship is available to students who are current Wienerschnitzel Service Center, franchisees or crew members (referred to as “Wienerschnitzel Members” collectively throughout the application) or immediate family members of Wienerschnitzel Members and are interested in pursuing careers in culinary arts/hospitality management, business or education. The Galardi Group, Inc. Scholarship is open to Wienerschnitzel Members nationwide.

 

Applicant qualifications:

To qualify for a Galardi Group, Inc. scholarship the applicant must:

  • Be a current Wienerschnitzel Member with at least one year of employment with Wienerschnitzel; or immediate family member of a Wienerschnitzel Member who has at least one year of employment at Wienerschnitzel
    • Immediate family member is limited to spouse/domestic partner and child/dependent 
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of nine credit hours at an accredited postsecondary school
  • Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Be enrolled or will enroll in two consecutive semesters or terms
  • Have completed at least one grading term of a postsecondary program or be a high school senior/GED holder going to a postsecondary school.
  • The Galardi Group, Inc. Scholarship is open to Wienerschnitzel Members nationwide

 

Required documentation to be submitted with your signed application:

  • An essay 
  • A copy of the applicant’s program curriculum from a college catalog or website with the major or degree, the number of credit hours and all degree requirements shown.
  • A high school, GED or college transcript. Transcripts do not have to be a sealed official copy, but must be from the school.
  • Proof of at least one year and current employment at Wienerschnitzel (for you or immediate family member). Proof must be given in the form of a scanned letter from your Wienerschnitzel supervisor/franchisee verifying employment. Do not send copies of a W-2.                                
  • One Letter of recommendation from a Wienerschnitzel supervisor, Wienerschnitzel franchisee, faculty member, teacher or counselor from your school. 

Deadline:

The application deadline is June 1, 2020. All materials must be mailed to CRAF and postmarked by the deadline date.

 

Notification:

Applicants chosen for an interview will be notified six to eight weeks after the scholarship deadline with further instructions on the time of the phone interview.

Awards:
Scholarship awards are paid to the students in two payments. The first half of the scholarship for the fall semseter is paid in early September once proof of enrollment with nine or more credit hours, a high-resolution picture, thank-you note, student & scholarship profile forms are received. The second half for the winter/spring semester is paid once proof of enrollment with nine or more credit hours and proof of good standing with the college are received.  

                          

The Galardi Group, Inc. scholarships are competitive and awarded to qualified applicants nationwide based on an application, an essay, previous work/volunteer experience and an interview. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

 

In addition to the Galardi Group, Inc. scholarship, we encourage students to apply for other scholarships, including the CRAF scholarship and the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) scholarship.
