Perkins Implementation Sessions

Winter 2020 Perkins Implementation Sessions

Using the New Perkins V Resources
OVERVIEW
8:30 AM - 2 PM

Are you interested in understanding the new Perkins V resources? Have you heard about the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment and would like to learn more? Are you curious about the new Perkins Application?

The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (commonly known as Perkins V) recognizes, in a way that previous iterations of Perkins legislation did not, the value and importance of in-depth, continual programmatic self-examination to improve programs and benefit students. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is offering daylong workshops dedicated to understanding these new Perkins V resources and how to incorporate them into CVTE program improvement efforts. Participants will have an opportunity to explore and use Perkins V resources, such as core indicator reports, comprehensive local needs assessment, application, and more.

WHAT IS PERKINS V?
In July of 2018, the "Strengthening Career and Technical Education in the 21st Century Act", also known as Perkins V ("Perkins Five"), was signed into federal law. Perkins V is largely based on the structure and content of prior law, with some key changes. Read more online.
