2020 Cal Poly Modeling Series

NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE

At this time, we are expecting to offer the Modeling Workshops in Summer 2020; however, given the rapidly changing situation, this could change. We will keep you posted.

In the mean time, we have postponed arranging travel and confirming registration for general registrants until we are more confident the workshops will offered at the date and times listed.

July 6 - July 17, 2020

Cal Poly University’s Center for Engineering, Science, and Mathematics Education (CESAME) and the NOYCE Western Regional are pleased to offer three concurrent 2-week professional development courses this summer in:
  • Physics  Modeling II - Waves, sound, and light
  • Chemistry Modeling II
  • Biology Modeling I
These workshops are structured inquiry approaches to high school chemistry, physics, biology and physical science teaching that incorporate computer technology and insights from current content & education research. Teachers will develop skills in fostering scientific discourse and presentation and in assessment of student learning. By designing and carrying out a series of investigations that use the Modeling Method teachers will practice Socratic questioning techniques that will enable them to teach physics, biology and/or chemistry using the Modeling Method.
