Hey, friends of District Clay Center! It's January, which means it's a new year and a new decade - and we're happy to share it with you!
To celebrate, we're hosting a New Year's party on Sunday, January 12th at 5:30 PM. We've got a lot planned, so here's a loose schedule:
- 5:30 PM - 6 PM: Artist Talks - We'll start the evening with artist talks from our lovely Resident Artists. This is a great chance to see the residents' artwork, what influences them, and where they're headed with new work!
- 6 PM: Potluck - At 6, we'll feast with a District Clay potluck! Bring your favorite entrée, snack, dessert, or drink to share!
- End of dinner: Toast! - At the end of the dinner, we'll have a toast with champagne and non-alcoholic juice to celebrate the new year! We'll also announce the results for the student survey.
- After dinner: White Elephant - As we slow down eating, we'll have a White Elephant pottery gift exchange. Never heard of a White Elephant? It's secret santa with a twist.
- Everyone who wants to play should bring an anonymously wrapped ceramic piece you made - this could be pottery, ceramic sculpture, or jewelry! We'll have these all in the middle of the room.
- We'll pick numbers, sit around the gifts in order, then pick gifts. Each person can take a wrapped gift from the center, or steal an opened gift from someone else.
- After everything is unwrapped, the first person can choose to keep their gift or steal a gift from someone else. If they keep their gift, the game ends. If they steal a gift, we go around the circle until someone keeps their gift.
- Each gift can only be stolen up to 3 times, so the 3rd person to steal that gift can't be stolen from.
If you'd like to bring guests who aren't part of DCC, we'd love to have them! If they want to participate in the White Elephant, they could bring a wrapped gift of their choice.
