Contemporary Medical Dilemmas

Ethical dilemmas are present in all disciplines of medicine. Regardless of their speciality, medical professionals must face a daily barrage of dilemmas that test their own moral resolve. It is not uncommon for practitioners to experience "moral distress" in these situations, causing their own physical and mental wellbeing to suffer as a result.

In the survey, we present thirteen difficult moral dilemmas and ask you to honestly choose how you would respond. There are no right or wrong answers to the questions posed and your decisions will be kept anonymous from all other participants.

For each survey completed, a donation of £1 will be made to African Hospital Libraries, up to a total of £200. On average, this survey will take 4 minutes to complete and your choices will better allow us to understand the current perspective on some of the most profound ethical issues in modern medicine, the results of which will be examined on blog.oup.com. The survey will end on the 10th of April 2020.

Oxford University Press remains impartial to any decision made by the participants.
