IOOS Survey of the Ocean Economy PUBLIC

Thank you for participating in the Ocean Enterprise Study 2020!

What is the Ocean Enterprise? The Ocean Enterprise, sometimes referred to as the “New Blue Economy,” comprises the platforms, technology, and information services that deliver the ocean observations, measurements, analyses, and forecasts enabling the wider Blue or Ocean Economy. These activities include products and services related to the world's oceans, coasts, and tidal reach environments, as well as the U.S. Great Lakes system.

What are the goals of the study? The Ocean Enterprise Study 2020 is a survey sponsored by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS). The survey will provide a five-year update to an original study published in 2015 (linked below), and will be used to understand the present scale and scope of U.S. business activity in this increasingly vital economic and environmental space.

Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary. After the first four questions about your company and Ocean/Blue Economy profile, you may skip any questions that you do not feel comfortable answering. No individual answers will be attributable to any person or organization.

The Ocean and Blue Economies have seen unprecedented change since the last survey, and is on the cusp of revolutionary change in capabilities and opportunities. Your participation in this survey will be a critical contribution to NOAA's and IOOS' ability to prepare for the years ahead. A final report of the survey's results will be published in mid-2020.
