Thank you for providing your feedback.
1. Are you a student or a parent?
2. What grade level is your student this year?
3. 2019-2020: What HiCap services was your student designated to receive during the 2019-2020 school year?
4. Did your student participate in the screening and assessment process in winter 2019-2020? (all students in K, 1 and 5 participated unless they opted out)
5. 2020-2021: Which HiCap designation will your student have for the 2020-2021 school year?
Background on Screening and Assessment:
In Winter 2019-2020, all Kindergarten, First Grade and 5th grade students who were not already dual qualified for HiCap were given the NNAT3 (Naglieri Nonverbal Assessment Test) in their regular classrooms by their regular teacher. In addition, all students in grades K-7 who were New to Northshore for this school year were also given the NNAT3.

Students who received a score 85% or higher on the NNAT3, the SBA or the iReady were then given the IOWA assessment. The IOWA was administered to small groups at their school during the school day by HiCap proctors or school personnel. First graders who received a 95%+ on the NNAT3 and older grades who had scored a 95%+ on the SBA (Smarter Balanced Assessment) were given automatic designation in one or both subjects and did not need to take the IOWA.

Referred students in grades 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 who had an SBA score above 85% but below 95% did not take the NNAT3, but did take the IOWA in one or both subjects.

Students in grades 8, 9, 10, and 11, could request a data review of their test scores for consideration for a HiCap Designation. These students with an SBA score 95% or higher were offered a HiCap designation in that subject.
