For the love of the arts

What's the draw?

To begin, I hope you are healthy and that everyone you hold dear is well and safe.

Many many thanks for taking the time to complete this survey!  What I am hoping to gain from this questionnaire is insight as to what triggers interest in and sustains ongoing support of the arts.  Is it formal education?  Familial or social influences?  Or is the impetus for our love of the arts simply a collage of random ineffable occurrences (i.e., who knows why)?  Whatever sparked your interest in the arts, I hope you will be open to sharing a bit of your background and what form(s) your support and connections currently take.

This survey is designed such that you will remain anonymous, unless you decide to provide your email address at the end of the survey.

This research project, and the subsequent paper/article I will write, is an independent endeavor. Any information and anecdotes you graciously provide will supplement my observations over the last 23 years, working in sales (for galleries, in retail & private dealing), studies in art history, and as an art & photography appraiser.  In the course of the survey, I will not ask for your name or other details that may identify you; only geographic location; anonymity is the default. If, however, you are interested in reading the end product, there will be opportunity to leave your email address at the end of the survey. That said, any and all information you provide will be treated as proprietary and confidential. (Art appraiser’s honor.)

As you move through the survey you will notice a little red asterisk (*) next to some questions--these questions are required. Most questions, however, are optional. Upon completion, there will be a link to "From Propaganda to Fine Art: The Photographs of the Resettlement Administration & the Farm Security Administration (FSA)" with free streaming access.

In advance, my sincere thanks again for your time and openness to help.
