Young Artist Online Class Participation Consent Form

The following consent form describes the platforms for participation in Continuing Education online courses and student and parent/guardian responsibilities for using these services. Cleveland Institute of Art utilizes the following platforms to host online class content and sessions:

myCIA – Cleveland Institute of Art’s website for hosting course pages and content, including class syllabus, supply list, weekly assignments, resources, pre-recorded video links, and interactions with the instructor.

myCIA login information to access class resources will be emailed to the email address provided below once the class is confirmed to run. Due to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule, parents/guardians of students under the age of 13 must manage the myCIA account for their student.

Google Meet - a platform for hosting virtual video meetings and interactive sessions between students and instructors.

Anyone using Google Meet will need to create a free Gmail account. This is a quick step that will allow you to join in the Google Meet. A link to the Google Meet class will be uploaded to your course on the myCIA course page.

The meeting will be live and interactive. Please make sure your student is in a quiet place where a parent can monitor the session. Please remember that everything within the camera viewing area will be visible to the teacher and other students.

Sounds and voices can be captured by your device’s microphone and heard by others in the Google Meet class session. Instructors may mute participants for portions of the session, but may unmute participants during discussion or to hear questions.

Please review our Code of Conduct and discuss responsible and appropriate behavioral expectations with your student. Virtual classroom expectations will be set by the instructors, so that all participants will have a safe and fun learning experience together!

Parents/guardians are responsible for monitoring their student’s use of these online platforms when accessing them from home for remote learning. Please complete the information below to give your consent that your student may use these services as part of the online class experience.
