Digital Technology in the Not-For-Profit Sector 2020


This survey aims to better understand how not-for-profit organisations across Australia and New Zealand are using technology, so that we can recognise the areas of growth and where improvement is needed. Now in its fifth year, the survey provides a comprehensive view of technology use across the sector including information systems, staff capability, online presence and emerging technologies.

This survey will take about 20 minutes to complete

To complete the survey, you will need to have a good understanding of how your organisation uses digital technology, including the systems and software you use, how much you spend on IT and what your online presence is. If you get stumped, you can save and continue later.

Before you start, you need to have some info ready

To make things as easy as possible, make sure you have the following information on-hand from last financial year (informed estimates are fine):

  • Total operating expenses of your organisation
  • Your total IT spend (preferably broken down into PCs, infrastructure, external support, staff salaries, training, website, core applications and data network links - but not essential)
  • Total number of employees (full-time equivalent or FTE), as well as number of IT staff
