Science Leaders Network 20-21

Science and Technology/Engineering District Leaders Network

The MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education welcomes educators from across the state to join our 2020-2021 mathematics, literacy, science, digital learning and computer science, and history/social science educator networks. These networks are designed to support educators to advance teaching and learning across the Commonwealth. We are calling on classroom leaders, school leaders, and district leaders to join us and collaborate across districts to learn, to test and refine tools and strategies, and to innovate.

In partnership with the Massachusetts Science Education Leaders Association (MSELA), the Science & Technology/Engineering District Leaders Network (STELDN) will support Pre-K-12 science district leaders and coordinators to come together to engage in discussions relevant to their role as Science and Technology/Engineering (STE) leaders within their districts. Participants will connect with leaders from across the Commonwealth in order to share resources and strategies for implementing the MA 2016 STE standards in districts. Participants will build their knowledge and capacity to support educators in adapting and implementing remote learning, equity-based assessments, and instructional routines exemplified in high quality instructional materials in science and technology/engineering.  Participants will also continue to expand their own professional network and collaborate with other district leaders through working groups to exchange, adapt/refine resources, discuss/consult on strategies or initiatives, and plan action in district (e.g. professional development, structural change, institutional shifts, remote learning) to incorporate equity-based structures and routines. Five half-day network meetings will be held in person in Marlborough; optional working groups will meet regionally, or virtually as needed.
