FOREIGN INVESTORS IN COLORADO SURVEY

Welcome!

Welcome and thank you for participating in our survey.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) remains an overwhelmingly positive influence in Colorado. Foreign-owned businesses employ over 113,000 workers across the state in good, high-paying jobs that boost living standards in every sector of the economy. These investments give Colorado an abundant opportunity to showcase productivity and create new opportunities for Coloradans. Colorado attracted over $343 million in foreign investment in 2019, which stems from its low-cost environment, talented workforce, and diverse industrial base. Attracting investment is vital to ensuring the state of Colorado remains a key player in the international economy. This is especially vital today, as the world recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic and the U.S. government negotiates new free trade agreements (FTAs) with partner countries such as the United Kingdom.

The goal of this survey is to gauge the experience of foreign-owned businesses operating in Colorado – their success stories, challenges, barriers to entry, and rationale for doing business in the state. Our aim is to gain a better understanding of what makes Colorado an attractive market for business, what types of regulatory hurdles exist for foreign-owned companies, and what the state government can do better to help foreign investors navigate the environment in the future.

OEDIT has launched this survey project in partnership with the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), the United Kingdom’s largest business organization. The U.K. is the largest single foreign investor in Colorado, with over 200 British subsidiaries in the state employing over 18,000 Coloradans.
