CCW Equity Survey

Introduction

Survey Purpose
In this survey, we are exploring barriers that prevent students from fully participating in Career Connected Learning (CCL) opportunities. We acknowledge that systemic racism has held students back, especially Black and Indigenous students, and we aspire to build an anti-racist system for career connected learning.

Our goal is to understand and quantify the barriers students are facing, so that we can provide effective advocacy to create and expand the supportive systems they need to thrive.

We are especially focused on the needs of:

  • Students with disabilities

  • Students of color

  • Low-income students

  • Students in rural areas

  • Students experiencing homelessness

  • Students in foster care

  • Undocumented students
  • Female students
  • English Language Learners

For the purposes of this survey, we will focus on students and young adults under age 30.

The survey is organized around three key steps in a student's journey to and through CCL programs:

  • Program awareness and consideration

  • Program access and enrollment

  • Program persistence and completion

How will the survey information be used?
Your survey responses will help Career Connect Washington (CCW) and partner organizations -- including the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC), Labor and Industries (L&I), program designers, regional networks, and other key stakeholders -- understand student equity barriers for participation in and completion of CCL programs, and identify opportunities to address inequities.

The information collected in this survey will be anonymized and only reported in aggregate form.  No specific positions, names of schools, or individual survey responses will be released. Demographic information collected by survey respondents is critical to help us analyze the data by regional geography and educational program type (e.g. K-12, College / University, Registered Apprenticeship, etc.).

Responses to this survey will have no impact on CCW grantees current funding or on an organization’s ability to become a grantee in the future. We encourage grantees to be completely candid so that we can improve these programs for students most in need.
