Dear Parent/Guardian,

Boys to Men Mentoring Network of Virginia is proud to be offering group mentoring to middle and high schools wherein boys have the opportunity to speak with trained mentors who are motivated to help boys become the men they want to be. Your child has stated an interest in joining the BTMVA Program.
 
Why Boys to Men? Middle and high school is a critical time when boys make choices every day about what kind of man they will become. The Boys to Men Program is designed to help boys make better choices.

We offer boys:
·    A community of trained mentors who listen and empower boys to speak their truth and encourage them to take responsibility for their choices.
·    A community where boys can listen to the stories of other boys and understand that they are NOT ALONE in their struggles.

The safety of our boys is our first priority. Every BTMVA mentor is carefully screened, must pass a detailed background check, and attend new mentor training. Our mentors come from all walks of life and bring their life experiences to share with the boys.

What activities does the BTMVA Program offer? Along with our weekly in-school and/or virtual mentoring groups we offer periodic Adventure Weekends that are designed to help young men take significant steps towards being the men they want to be. In addition, we offer group recreational and service activities to allow the boys and mentors to play and serve together. All activities are designed to be fun learning experiences and are closely supervised. They will be conducted within the current guidelines of social distancing.

BTMVA is drawing high praise from school administrators, teachers, parents and the boys for its documented ability to improve participant’s grades, attendance, and rates of discipline issues.

Boys to Men Mentoring Network of Virginia [La Red de Mentoría de Niños a Hombres en Virginia o Boys to Men o BTMVA por sus siglas en inglés] está orgullosa de ofrecer mentoría en grupos en escuelas intermedias y secundarias en las que los niños tengan la oportunidad de hablar con mentores capacitados y motivados para ayudar a los niños a convertirse en los hombres que quieren ser. Su hijo ha manifestado interés en unirse al programa de BTMVA.

¿Por qué Boys to Men? La escuela intermedia y secundaria es un momento crítico cuando los niños toman decisiones cada día sobre qué tipo de hombre serán.
El Programa de Boys to Men está diseñado para ayudar a los niños a tomar mejores decisiones.

Ofrecemos a los chicos:
  • Una comunidad de mentores capacitados que escuchan y ayudan a los niños para que hablen de su realidad y los alientan a asumir la responsabilidad de sus acciones.
  • Una comunidad donde los niños pueden escuchar las historias de otros niños y comprender que NO están solos en sus luchas.
La seguridad de nuestros niños es nuestra primera prioridad. Cada mentor de BTMVA es investigado y debe pasar una verificación de antecedentes detallada y asistir a un nuevo entrenamiento de mentor. Nuestros mentores provienen de todos los ámbitos de la vida y comparten sus propias experiencias con los niños.

¿Cuáles actividades ofrece el programa BTMVA? Junto con nuestros grupos semanales de tutoría en la escuela y/o virtuales, ofrecemos fines de semana de aventura [Adventure Weekends] diseñados para ayudar a los muchachos a dar pasos importantes para convertirse en los hombres que quieren ser. Además, ofrecemos actividades grupales recreativas y de servicio para permitir que los niños y los mentores juegan y sirven juntos. Todas las actividades están diseñadas para ser experiencias de aprendizaje divertidas y son estrechamente supervisadas. Estos eventos se llevarán a cabo con las pautas actuales de distancia social.
