Clay and Concrete Tile Certification: Job Task Analysis Survey

An NRCA task force comprising industry experts identified 32 unique tasks that clay and concrete tile roof system installers should be able to perform correctly to become NRCA ProCertified.® Please rate each task based on two criteria: The importance of the tasks and the best method to validate an installer’s skills for each task. Also, consider each task from the point of view of a field worker performing tile installation tasks.

Please respond to each question for all the tasks using the following criteria.
How important is it that the certification tests each task? Please select one of three responses:
  • Very important
  • Somewhat important
  • Not necessary to test this task
Which is the best method to validate an installer’s skills for each task? Please select one of these three methods:
  • A hands-on test where a subject matter expert observes the installer performing the task
  • A knowledge test where the installer answers specific questions about how the task is performed
  • A document that confirms the installer has the experience or completed sufficient training for a specific task
