Spring 2021 Return to Campus Survey

Update December 2:  Survey open until further notice

Dear Pasadena Unified Families:

Due to the current COVID-19 surge and actions taken by the Governor to mitigate the spread of the virus, we will need to remain flexible about the date to begin the gradual return of students to campuses.  The return date depends on the status of COVID-19 rates in Los Angeles County by mid-December.

We are continuing to actively plan to welcome students to school in person when public health authorities deem it safe to return to in-person learning.

Before we can return, parents/guardians will need to choose one of two educational options for Spring 2021.

PUSD is currently testing a simultaneous model of teaching and learning to ensure that students stay with their current teachers and classmates while maintaining the continuity and quality of educational programs.

In this simultaneous learning model, a group of students are physically in the classroom with their teacher and peers while a group of their classmates stays online, learning from home via their Chromebooks or other devices. Using technology such as classroom cameras, students who are not physically in the classroom can engage in real-time classroom learning and interaction with their teacher and peers. Video demonstration Fact Sheet Frequently Asked Questions

Before we return to campuses, parents/guardians must choose one of the following options for simultaneous learning:
  1. Return to on-campus, in-person learning when public health authorities deem it safe, or
  2. Stay online in distance learning with their same teacher and classmates

Families will have time to carefully consider their decision and to send back their reply.   All decisions will need to be submitted electronically.

Your response will be used by district and school site staff for planning purposes. Depending on your indicated preference,we will send follow-up communications. To ensure that you receive all subsequent communications, please make sure to confirm and update your contact information in the Aeries parent portal. If you do not have a parent portal account, please click here for instructions to create one.

For help completing the survey, please contact your school office, the PUSD Family Engagement office at 626.396.3600 ext: 88191, or the PUSD Family Hotline at 626.396.3680

Because we must plan by committing to teachers and other personnel and by purchasing appropriate supplies, your decision on the survey is binding and applies to the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year, which ends June 3, 2021.

Thank you for your steadfast support of our students and schools during this challenging time.
