BinaxNOW Antigen Test Request

Summary

On August 27, 2020, the White House announced the purchase and distribution of 150 million rapid, Abbott BinaxNOW COVID-19 Ag Card Point of Care (POC) SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic tests. The week of September 14, Wisconsin assisted living facilities and skilled nursing facilities began receiving shipments of the BinaxNOW test directly from Abbott via the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

An additional allocation of tests is being sent directly to states to use at their direction. Criteria for prioritization and distribution varies weekly dependent on supply; outbreak response and testing of exposed essential workers remains central. The antigen test is best used in outbreak testing and testing of symptomatic individuals. Lab-based molecular testing is still the “gold-standard.” The BinaxNOW tests may be appropriate if preferred testing is not available in a timely manner. Please fill out the form below and click the button to submit. If you have additional questions, please contact DHSCOVIDBinax@dhs.wisconsin.gov.

These are antigen tests. For more information about recommendations for how to use antigen tests, refer to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Health Alert Network #17.
