Call for Nomination

The Maine Health Information Management Association (MeHIMA) Nominating Committee wants you to suggest fellow members and/or yourself as possible candidates for the MeHIMA Executive Board positions for the next fiscal year.

ALL NOMINEES MUST BE ACTIVE MeHIMA MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING.

Nominations are open for the following positions:
  • President-Elect
  • Director
  • MeHIMA Nominating Committee
  • AHIMA Nominating Committee
  • Treasurer
President-Elect

This is an officer position. Individual serves as member of the Board of Directors for three years as President-Elect (first year), President (second year), and Past-President/Director (third year).

As President-Elect this individual aides the President and assumes the duties of the President in the event of absence or inability for the President to act, serves as a state delegate (as membership numbers dictate) and appoints committee chairs to the Board of Directors in the Spring. Candidate for this position must be able to travel to national meetings (AHIMA Team Talks, Leadership Conference and National Convention as appropriate). Travel expenses are paid by MeHIMA.

As President this individual presides at all meetings of the Association (Business Meetings and Board of Directors* Meetings), leads the Association in accordance with Standing Rules and Bylaws and serves as an ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee. Candidate for this position must be able to travel to national meetings (AHIMA Team Talks, Leadership Conference and National Convention as appropriate). Travel expenses are paid by MeHIMA.

As Past-President/Director this individual serves as a resource for the President, serves as an alternative delegate if the President or President-Elect is unable to serve House of Delegate duties. Candidate must have had previous MeHIMA Board experience as President, Secretary, Treasurer, or Committee Chair for a minimum of one full term.

Director

This individual serves as a member of the Board of Directors for a term of 2 years. As Director this individual represents the membership of the Association and in that capacity shall advise the Board of Directors of the needs of the membership. This individual also serves as a member of the Program and Arrangements Committee consulting in the selection and coordination of educational programs. Travel to the AHIMA National Convention may be required if serving as a delegate in the second year of the term.

Nominating Committee

As a member of this committee, the individuals will work closely with the President and President-elect for a term of two years. The committee members are responsible for preparation of the ballots to the active membership.

AHIMA Nominating Committee

It is the job of the Nominating Committee to select the best candidates for president/chair-elect and director for the AHIMA Board of Directors, speaker-elect of the House of Delegates, and commissioners for the Commission on Certification for Health Informatics and Information Management (CCHIIM), and the council members for the Council for Excellence in Education (CEE) from many qualified candidates. Members will consider each potential candidate's leadership skills and record of commitment to AHIMA's mission.

Treasurer

The Treasurer shall be the custodian of the funds of this corporation, shall maintain adequate and correct accounts of all properties and financial transactions of MeHIMA, shall collect and deposit any assessments approved by the membership, shall prepare financial reports as requested by the President and/or the Board of Directors, and shall render an annual budget report.
